Video Graphics Array

Post by Hans Cadans »

L.s.,

The new feature, "the Graphics Array", is worthful addition to this program.
I would have added it with my new Keyboard, but alas, I broke off the connector of my USB-stick.

Many new files, including the rest of my library are lost. (making a Back-Up is very wise indeed).
If you want a demonstration of the new feature, then download the attached file,
maybe it is for you, an eye-opener.

Best Regards

Could you upload a VGA with an explanation on how it works? I want to use one in my next project but when I look at yours I only see a lot of things in which I get lost. The Sync. Counters are way to complex for me to use to figure out how the array it self works.

I would love to use it to make Tetris as it is my all time favorite game.

I hope it is possible to make a basic tutorial for me.

Greets,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
Here is some demo of the VGA.
VGA is working as memory but showing its content on the display. Pretty much, like the graphics card on your computer.
On the Main circuit, you can manually provide address and data and see where it changes the screen. On the Rainbow circuit, you the sequence of numbers applied to address and data filling the screen with all possible colors.
Hope this helps,
Eugene

Thanks, this will help me a lot. One last question, is this the maximum speed to write something on it?

Dear Superryan,

Here is a simple circuit, with which you can study the functioning of the VGA-screen.
If you want to know more, you can send me a PM.

Best Regards
